SSS: Pass and Fail – DIY Diffuser and Shampoo Bar

Hi! I hope everyone is staying at home and safe.

Since I have time to write a blog, let me share some of my recent Simple Sustainable Switch experience.

Recently, an IG post about a Do It Yourself Oil Reed Diffuser sparked my interest mainly because I have old perfume bottles currently sitting on my drawer and waiting to be re-purposed. Luckily, I happen to have all its main ingredients so I decided give it a try.

DIY Oil Reed Diffuser

WHAT YOU NEED

  1. Bottle or Jar preferably wide based
  2. Carrier Oil
  3. Essential/Fragrance Oil
  4. Wooden Chopsticks/Skewers/Coffee Stirrer (as reeds)

WHAT TO DO

  1. Fill up the bottle with a carrier oil (I used grapeseed oil)
  2. Add 20-30 drops of your favorite essential oil (I used a green apple fragrance oil)
  3. Place the wooden reeds (I re-used a bamboo coffee stirrer and chopsticks)

PASS or FAIL

FAIL – Unfortunately this is a fail for me. First, it was really hard to remove the spray on my perfume bottle (Patience please). I would really need some thinner reeds. Most importantly it did not diffuse the fragrance. Maybe because I used a fragrance oil instead of essential oil? Or maybe it’s the reeds? I really don’t know.

Shampoo Bar

When I posted my first blog on SSS I did not include Shampoo Bars simply because I stopped using one for a while. But after searching online for an affordable Shampoo Bars that will last longer (for lesser shipping footprint), I was able to find one that is not only cheap but with more grams compared for its price.

Product Name: CLEN Shampoo Bar

Variant: Aloe Vera and Tea Tree

Price: PhP99.00 only

Size:  80 grams

Where to buy: Click here

Product Name: CLEN Conditioner Bar

Variant: Coconut & Lavender

Price: PhP120.00 only

Size:  40 grams

Where to buy: Click here

PASS or FAIL

PASS – The fact that they used recycled paper instead of bubble wrap is a big plus for me. Again, it’s affordable and will most likely last for over a month (I used it for a week now and it’s still hefty). The Shampoo bar lathers really well and I noticed that it indeed lessened my dandruff (the variant I got was anti-dandruff). However, the conditioner bar was not as smooth in my hair compared to liquid conditioners and the smell of coconut overpowers the smell of lavender. Still, it is a pass for me😘.

Thank you for taking the time to read. May we also take time to read the Bible while we have more time to spend with God at the comfort of our home.
