One of the well-known tourist attractions in the Bicol Region would be Mayon Volcano which is located in the province of Albay.
And if you happen to be in Albay to take a peek at the Perfect Cone Volcano -or not so perfect anymore- let me suggest some other things you can do!
Besides we will never know when Mayon is hiding behind those clouds!
Just like what happened to us! hehehe
LIGNON HILL (Legaspi City)
(There is an entrance fee for only 25 pesos)
When you reach the top of the Hill you get a clear view of Legaspi City.
And the Mayon Volcano on the other side! But then I wasn’t able to take a photo because it was still covered with clouds 😦
It’s also near Albay Park and Wildlife (if you have time you can drop by)
For more detailed information on what else you can do at Lignon Hills and how to get there you can check this site: wowlegazpi.com
DJC Halo-halo (Tiwi, Albay)
Care for a dessert that is perfect for the hot weather?
You can try DJC halo-halo which I really liked. I never expected that cheese will blend blissfully with Halo-halo.
DJC already have many branches within the province of Albay and I think the one at Landco Business Park (near Pacific Mall) is the most accessible. (But we eat at the Tiwi, Albay Branch)
CAGSAWA RUINS (Daraga, Albay)
Still we shouldn’t miss to visit the Cagsawa Ruins!
Too bad it was really crowded the time we went there and the Mayon Volcano was still incognito.
If you don’t want to stand under the scorching sun waiting for your turn to take a photo in front of the Mayon Volano (which might still be hiding behind the clouds) I suggest you look for a place to take Instagram worthy photos like we did!
Taking advantage of vintage!
⇒You can also try the Sili Ice Cream or Sili Shake they are selling within the vicinity!
⇒If you have extra time and want to experience cooler staff you can try the ATV ride !
KAWA KAWA HILL (Ligao, Albay)
Be ready to shed some sweat but I guarantee it’s worth it.
Aside from the life-size statue’s of Station of the Cross and it’s beautiful church, Kawa kawa Hill has more to offer.
There is a lovely view on your way up and a wide crater ring at the center of the hill where you can have picnics or just relax.
But what I really loved was the sunflower field
I loved it so much that I took a lot of photo
It was not crowded at all! Love it!
BY THE WAY HERE IS A PHOTO OF ME WITH THE MUCH AWAITED MAYON VOLCANO SOMEWHERE BETWEEN DARAGA TO LIGAO ALBAY.
Feythoughts: This was just really out of luck while driving to Kawa-kawa (from Cagsawa) we noticed the clouds were fading so we immediately stopped the car somewhere with clearer view of Mayon Volcano. It was only about a minute or two until it disappeared again! hehehe
That scenario reminds me of the line in Fathers’s instruction for Life. “Learn to listen. Sometimes opportunity knocks very softly”
Have a Nice day!
